Prophets Revealing Purposeful Goodnews (1Peter 1: 10- 12)

PROPHETS REVEALING PURPOSEFUL GOODNEWS (1Peter 1: 10- 12):

Peter continues writing about the importance and privilege of the salvation of souls through God’s grace and genuine faith. He refers to the prophets of ages who by divine revelation prophesied about God’s grace to people who lived during and after the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Many prophets especially Moses, David, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Jeremiah prophesied about the various important happenings that would occur in the life of Jesus Christ. The prophecies mentioned by them were only out of divine indulgence as most of the prophets didn’t have any clue about when will the prophecy come true and how it will happen. Even some of the prophets searched for it by carefully inquiring about the things, thinking, and expecting that the prophecies will come true during their timeline.
The situation of the Old Testament times was little different and the work of God was also according to it. The people didn’t have many privileges to read the Word of God and the prophets were the major source of giving God’s word to people. The prophets knew God’s love and righteousness with Grace. Also, most of the prophets knew the need of the Messiah for people for the redemption of sins as the people of their ages constantly fell and went astray from God. So, they were eagerly anticipating the arrival of the Messiah by diligently trying to find out the era and specific time that was specified to them by the inspiration by the Spirit of Messiah that was in them. Though they predicted the sufferings of Christ in the life on earth and crucifixion on Cross and knowing the subsequent glory that would follow the resurrection of Jesus Christ, they eagerly inquired about it as they were not obvious about it.
God has an eternal purpose and by it, He revealed certain things to the prophets as they were searching and eagerly wanted to know about the things they were prophesying. Most of the prophets who prophesied about Jesus Christ knew that they were not prophesying the things to the people of their generations and serving themselves but to the people during the life of Jesus Christ and people who live after that. The prophets were announcing the things that were of great hope for the people, the good news of great joy, revealed by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Though the people of the age of Prophets did not experience the good news, they could visualize and anticipate the brighter hope for the future. The Angels who constantly encountered human beings and revealed about Jesus Christ also longed to look at the things that were about to happen, the Salvation of the Souls, and the glory that is to be revealed.
